Miscellaneous

Injuries: Rookie tackle left the game late with an unknown injury and did not return; its severity is not clear … Receiver appeared to injure his hip early in the game and looked hobbled at times, but he played throughout.

Penalties: 5 for 53 yards. Season total of 84 for 752 yards, second-most in the NFL in penalties and most in total yards.

One positive statistic: The Colts had not scored fewer than 20 points or gained fewer than 341 yards in a game this season, but the Patriots held them to 20 points and just 322 yards.

One negative statistic: Fleener’s 144 receiving yards were second-most by an NFL tight end all season, behind only Gronkowski’s performance against Chicago (149).

The game in one statistic: Gray dominated on the ground, toting the ball 38 times for 199 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 38 rushes and 199 yards are the most for a Patriots running back Hall-of-Famer carried 40 times for 199 yards in Week 3 of 1997. The four touchdowns were a first for a Patriots running back in the regular season, though had four against these same Colts in the playoff meeting in January.
